As math standards are changed and curriculum is adapted to those standards, many parents and community members find themselves questioning what they consider "new math." It is important for everyone in the school community to see that new approaches are really just a way of more deeply understanding the math that we learned in school. This session will explore the reasons behind the changes, and highlight specific examples where new approaches support students. Participants will come away with ideas for ways districts can support parents who are skeptical of math instruction.
