The Morris-Union Jointure Commission employs strategies that are effective in reducing anxiety, improving communication and decreasing aggression for students with severe autism. These strategies include a sensory room, yoga, comfort dog visitation, gratitude journals, effective mindfulness exercises, martial arts, and an aquarium. Presenters will share how to employ these strategies in the most cost effective way. This session will highlight the sensory room and its use, cost, challenges, and benefits. Procedures and goals for each of the techniques discussed will be presented.
