In 2016, the Weehawken Township School District adopted a new inclusive and collaborative approach to school security. The district rapidly updated and enhanced all security protocols and procedures with the close assistance of the Weehawken Police Department. A major outcome of the team effort included a successful $16,000,0000 facilities referendum with safety upgrades as the main goal of the new construction. Best practices for board-administrator-police communication will be shared, as well as, Weehawken's "three layers of safety" school security model.
